Thanksgiving 2013

I took pictures of the kids today and these two wild brumbies came over to check us out. Quincy and Josie didn't mind but Trig wasn't to excited when Reggie blew on his neck.

Today was Dean's birthday. The kids and I love birthdays, we were really excited about this one. We decorated the house, made cards, bought presents and wrapped them. I had so much fun with the kids planning a party. We went to dinner and then bowling. When we came home we sang, ate ice cream, opened presents and played with them. Josie wrapped two presents all by herself. She was so excited to show Dean. It took her forever to cut, and she had a hard time figuring out how to lay the tape down sticky side down. But she stuck with it and was very pleased with her finished product.

Josie was very specific about what she wanted her card to say front and back, and she traced every letter so its a good thing we started a few days early. Trig chose to have the same five pictures on his card he always wants drawn on any of his papers.
We took the kids bowling, Dean and I didn't even bowl the kids were just going non stop. They were in Heaven. They cheered for each other and gave each other advice. We loved watching them it was so fun to see how animated they were.

Good Help

Dean needed some help preg checking cows. I usually only get asked to deliver lunch but sometimes when he is really desperate he asks me to help out. My sweet neighbor watched Quincy, Josie was at school, and Trig and I help work cows. It was fun to watch Trig in his element. He kept asking to get back on his horse. He was all over the place, hitting cows, holding vaccines, and climbing on everything. He is such a good boy when he is with his dad and just keeps busy and out of the way for the most part! As for me I was excellent help I'm sure; I started out feeling a little guilty giving the cows shots but by the end I was just sticking them with no mercy.

Baby Quinc got invited to her first picnic. Josie carried all these toys up stairs because she wanted to invite Quincy. I guess it didn't occur to her that I could have carried Quincy downstairs. Anyway it was fun to watch the two girls play; Josie is such a good sister she adores Quincy...
That is until Quincy got real ambitious, weaseled herself out of her bumbo, and grabbed the basket of food she had been eyeing. Josie went berserk; Quincy just stayed focused; and I laughed. I sure do love being the momma!
Quincy is 6 months old. She has been crawling for a while now. She is starting to sit for longer periods of time each day. She loves baby food, and is still on nutramigen. She is magically happy now and is such an enjoyable baby. I enjoy watching her grow and develop but now that she is happy I wish she would slow down so I can savor every stage with her! We love her so much.

The Black

Josie asked me, "Why don't we have a black mom? You know like Grandpa Bruce has a black? Why don't we have a black"? I was confused but the more we talked I realized that she wished we had asphalt so she could ride her scooter. There are a lot of advantages to raising kids in the country but a good place to ride bikes is not one of them.
Later that day she came to me again, she named a few of our friends and asked if they had a black. I told her no one had a black around here but maybe we could go ride at the church. She seemed happy with that answer.
When she heard Dean pull in the driveway she came running. "Dad's home now we can go ride on the black". She made that plan up all on her own; but it worked out and we went to ride on the black. The perfect way to end that last fall day of the year.
On the way home we stopped to check some cows and trig couldn't resist chasing his dad with a stick. I just love these boys!

Almost Winter

Last week Dean called and asked me to bring him lunch. It started snowing right as I left the house. I was gone for 28 minutes and it snowed the entire time, hard. I couldn't believe how much snow we got in a short amount of time. As soon as I walked in the house the weather cleared up and the rest of the week was relatively warm. We are not ready for this weather. Josie is so confused she thinks Santa forgot to come to our house because it snowed but we didn't get any presents.

Halloween

I don't like a lot of decorations around the house, its just more to dust. I don't like to decorate for holidays because that means I have to store the decorations for the other 11 months of the year. That being said I really enjoyed decorating for holidays with my mom. She didn't go really crazy but had a few decorations for each holiday and I loved it. Because my kids are getting older I asked them if they wanted to make some Halloween decorations and decorate the house. Josie was so excited she ran downstairs and brought back this piece of rainbow stationary. "Mom can I hang this up for my Halloween decoration"? Yep, sure can. That's when I realized I have a few more years before I really need to get serious about decorating, clearly they don't get the concept of Halloween and that is perfectly fine with me.
Josie asked me if she was going to dress up like Little Red Riding Hood again for Halloween. I told her to pick something else because she was that last year. She immediately asked if she could 'be a rainbow, like her decoration'. Instead I let her watch an episode of Rainbow Brite and we settled on that for a costume. I couldn't find any type of pattern but I found a couple pictures on the Internet, meshed them with the ideas in my mind, bought some material, some star buttons and ended up with this costume. I painted Rio's old snow boots and (before the paint started chipping) they were perfect. I really enjoyed making this costume and I learned A TON.
Seriously I feel like a could sew anything now.
Trig's costume was oddly the most expensive of all 3 but still only $12. Not including the $7 bat I had to buy. It really was the most important part, he wanted to be a 'Hit Ball'. Meaning, He wanted to be a baseball player but only because he knows they have bats and can hit things. I had to buy that bat special because it was covered in foam; I count it as a courtesy to all that came near my boy. I got his stuff at the DI, I altered the pants and jersey drastically. The mitt, helmet and cleats were just lucky DI finds. I painted the stirrups on his socks and now he asks everyday to wear the ones with paint.
Quincy's was an Indian, I loved it. Dean called her 'Commanchi Spirit' all night and it made me smile. I made her a cute little dress, Dean wouldn't let me make it fancy with ribbon and beads like I had intended. He said Indians are plain, which is probably true and was defiantly easier for me. My dad made her cute little moccasins and I just loved it.
We stopped to see Papa and then headed down to Grandma Great's party. We met at Grandma Sharon's and went Trick-or-Treating with a few of the cousins. Our little family called it quits after 10 houses but our kids didn't know any different. They were thrilled with their loot! We headed to the party, ate dinner, and visited.
Josie was a fairy for her preschool Halloween party. I was afraid if I sent her in her real costume the arms and big boots would get in her way. She didn't want to be anything besides Rainbow Brite (which made me super happy) but when we started looking through our dress up box she decided on this fairy princess. She was excited because another girl at school was a fairy too.
