Goodbye Summer

I'm not ready for winter, not at all, but Summer is officially over. I turned on the furnace today. I have enjoyed this summer so much (especially since Quincy decided to started enjoying life), I love the stages my kids are in, and we have loved playing outside.
They didn't really sleep out on the tramp. They wanted to, I think they got the idea from Addy. We let them play out there for 20 minutes but then we wanted to go to bed so we made them come in.

Oakley Ranch Rodeo

Dean competed in the Ranch Rodeo in Oakley Idaho a few weeks ago. We got a hotel in Burley. The kids loved swimming and eating pizza on the white sheets and I loved letting them. My parents drove through on there way home from Canada. They offered to take the kids home and put them to bed so Dean and I could stay longer. It was so nice, we love our babies, but we thoroughly enjoyed the long drive home kid free!

Quincy

This baby girl is five months old. She is getting big fast. She is so much happier and it has been so nice. She doesn't sleep through the night like she used to but I'll take waking up in the middle of the night in exchange for a happy baby. She is still an avid thumb sucker, she is getting a notch in her top gum to prove it. We started solids today, I think she is going to be a good eater. She rolls both ways and has for a while now. She is very interested in what is going on around her and loves her toys. Her favorite toy is an empty wipe bag, she loves the noise. She smiles and kicks whenever she hears the kids voices in hopes they are coming to play with her. Josie loves to hold Quincy standing up. If I ask her to do a favor for me she will say, "Okay if you let me hold the baby while I stand". I told her when she is 5 she can hold Quincy while she walks, she is so excited for that day; to bad Quincy will be bigger than her by then.

To Work Like Dad

Every day Trig wakes up and asks, "where's dad"? Sometimes dad is home, sometimes he has already gone. No matter the answer as to where he is Trig says, "can me go to work with dad"? Then he finds his Levis and his cowboy shirt (everyday its the same shirt unless its soaking wet in the washer. He finds it whether it be in his drawer, the dirty clothes, the dryer). Dean is pretty good to take him when he can. This day Dean was obviously having a weak moment because Trig came home with this little tractor from the parts store. I walked out to see it and asked, "Trig what are you going to do with that". Of course he said, "me go to work like dad". A lot of work has been done much to my dismay... he is always willing to haul a baby for Josie, or haul the sand out of the sand pile and dump it on the grass, or haul the gravel from the driveway into the dog run; dang kid and his 'work'.

This girl

She has been staring up at me from under this silly hat all day, it just cracks me up.

I could post everyday about the crazy things this lady talks about and I just forget.

The things she says.

Josie: Mom can I have a snack
Me: No we are going to have lunch in just a little while
Josie: No just pretend mom
Me: O okay (I reach for a pretend snack and hand it to her)
Josie: (stomps her feet and grunts) No mom I meant pretend we already ate pretend lunch and now you can give me a REAL snack

Dad why do we have to be modest?
-because it keeps our bodies covered up and our bodies are sacred
Dad why don't animals modest?
-well they are they have hair to cover their bodies
Dad why aren't pigs modest?
-they have hair too it's just really hard to see
Well then what about frogs, why aren't they modest?
-Jos lets play hide and seek

Josie: Why do people always say Ssout? when I tell them my horses name is Ssout?
Dean: Well his name is Scout and you don't say the Kkk sound very good, you will have to practice the 'k' sound.
She tries to practice the k with her mouth full and fruit loops and the milk starts running down her face so she stops and says.
Josie: Those people will have to practice listening to me better

I have been so worried about Josie not really wanting to play with friends. We have been working on it and she is doing better. Now that she is it makes me hyperventilate a little bit; she is growing up to fast.
Josie is such a good big sister. She adores Quincy and tolerates Trig.

Blackfoot Fair

Growing up my my dad showed horses at the 'Blackfoot Fair' well that's what we called it. Turns out it's actually called the Eastern Idaho State Fair and for the third year in a row Dean competed in the Team Branding and Team Sorting. We dropped Quincy off at Jenna's which was so awesome! Josie insisted in taking her baby dumbo. She told me it was her real baby and just like I take my real baby places she had to take hers. I said the fair is not a place for babies that's why I left mine with Jenna. She said then we need to drive back to Jenna's and have her tend Dumbo too. I wasn't about to do that so I just let him come. It was totally worth it when she sat down on the bleachers and started rummaging through her diaper bag (that she packed completely by herself) and pulled out two pairs of shoes, a zebra from Africa and a camera. She turned to me and said, "will you tell me when its dad's turn so I can take a picture of him"? So sweet.
Trig wanted to rope a cow so bad. Dean brought his horse and they rode around but he just wanted to go in the arena, he knew he was being tricked.
Dean didn't get in the money this go around so that was a bummer but on the way home we stopped and bought a new 4-wheeler so he was pretty excited despite the morning.

Sass the cat

He came inside crying, "Mom me can't find Sass"...
... No wonder she hides from him?

Maddie-Gretchen

Last weekend Dean went to a Ranch Rodeo while the kids and I went to Gretchen's baptism and then to a party to celebrate Maddie's birthday. Dean's team did pretty well and I was sad we couldn't go watch them but we had a great time with family. Gretchen's baptism was so nice and she looked adorable and so grown up.
Maddie was the first grand baby so she has a special place in every body's heart. She is a sweet girl and easy going. I love hanging out with her and teasing her. I can't believe she is 18, so weird. She loves Iron Man and Avengers but she was nice enough to let us celebrate her with a party the kids could enjoy as well. Granny Sharon made capes and masks for the kids. Emilee planned an excellent dinner and some fun games. Happy Birthday Maddie. We love you!
I couldn't get over her shirt, I loved it, so perfect for the occasion.
