2 Months Old

This little lady is 2 months old. I sure love her. She is trying to find her voice but she just can't quite make it work. She is so unpredictable. Sometimes she is sweet and happy, sometimes she is ornery and screams, sometimes she throws up everything she ate sometimes she doesn't even spit up; I just never know what I'm going to get. One thing I can count on is that she will scream in the car wherever we go, it's not pleasant. She is a tummy sleeper. She is a thumb sucker. I have try to keep her hands covered so she can't get her thumbs but when she can find them they are in her mouth. She does take a binky and I switch a thumb for a binky whenever I catch her. I don't want a teenage thumb sucker so I'm trying to break this habit now. But she is just a doll and I have loved having her in our house!

Occupational Therapy Journal

Josie has been going to an Occupational Therapist in Logan; Debbie (my genius sister Emilee told me to call her by her name instead of the Dr. so that Josie will think we are going to visit a friend and not associate it with going to the Dr). The point of this is that Debbie will help Josie deal with textured foods and open her mind to a wider variety of eating so she doesn't waste away and gets the required nutrients to be healthy. On our first visit she tested Josie's muscles and found that she doesn't have the muscle mass in her back and across her shoulders that she will need to handle an entire day of school. They said this is something that goes unnoticed a lot of times because playing at home doesn't require sitting in a desk all day like school does. When this goes unnoticed kids end up with behavior problems; they can't sit all day and they along with parents and teachers don't understand what is actually causing the behavior. She works with Josie on strengthening these muscles and gave us a lot of ideas on how to work on them at home. The second half of our visit Debbie and Josie play with food and textures.  Examples... paint with shaving cream -make worms out of string cheese -scrambled egg bumblebees with ketchup wings -mix yogurt & food coloring etc.
Debbie believes that getting Josie excited about eating and playing and touching what she is going to eat will slowly change Josie's mind from food being intimidating to being enjoyable. Again the idea here is that eventually she will be more open minded and eat and healthy variety of food. Also if I make her try a new food she automatically throws up- so this way we play with it, it becomes her idea, she tries it and the second time the food is served to her I can say you tired it before and didn't throw up so I want you to at least try it again. This way she doesn't throw up and sometimes she enjoys the food and eats it but sometimes she only eats and one required bite. We are making progress and I can tell that she is already improving. The biggest change I can see is if she sees other people (especially kids) eating something she used to automatically turn her nose up but now she is curious and asks about it. She thinks about who is eating it and how they are acting, sometimes she asks to try it sometimes she doesn't but at least she is thinking about it.  It's hard with three kids to sit down and play with food every meal, it takes a lot of time. And sometimes it's hard to explain when we play with food and when we don't especially to Trig. I may be helping Josie but I'm pretty sure I'm just teaching Trig bad habits.

Things that make me smile

This little guy helping his dad irrigate. Right when Dean comes home he asks for Dean's 'knife pocket' and gets busy damaging something.
Playing dogs; I love how well these two play pretend.
Josie and Trig take their stroller and shopping cart to the zoo (a walk through my bedroom). When Trig asked "Me take Quincy to da zoo", I couldn't tell him no.
Trig had an accident outside and ran in the house pretty upset, "me pee in my play shoes". When he lifted them up to show me pee ran down his arms. He was so sad.
He threw a little fit, I sent him to his room, turned into an early Nap!
Josie has been really interested in coloring lately. She doesn't want to use a coloring book she likes to create herself, I love to see what she comes up with. She made these two little ditties the other day and then wanted to 'e-mail' them. She knew exactly who she wanted to send them to, Granny Great and Addy. By email she actually meant mail and when she was putting the stamps on them she said, "I'll make another one two weeks ago for Kason".
These two spent the first part of the day putting pine needles and rocks in the horses water. Then spent the second part of the day taking them out. They thoroughly enjoyed both.
 Playing in the irrigation
Quincy in her bumbo for the first time.
He is only wearing underwear because he already got his clothes wet, he can not stay away from anything wet or dirty EVER its impossible, he is drawn to anything messy.

Lava

We went to Lava; it was perfect no body was there and it was cheap because we went at night. We picked Dean up right off the swather. I'm not sure he was to excited but the kids and I where thrilled he was going with us. Grandma Fox watched Quincy so we could all play in the water. Dean went off the high dive a few times he is so brave, or just crazy.

Fathers Day Weekend

The kids and I headed to Utah in time to get Dean's truck detailed and go swimming at Joann's. Granny Great and Emilee watched Quincy while the rest of us swam. It was our first time swimming this summer and I'm sure I was more excited than the kids.

Saturday we went to this Colette's birthday party. We had an awesome lunch and rode bikes. There was fishing too but because Dean wasn't there I didn't attempt that with the kids.
Sunday we went to see Grandpa Virg and then had dinner at my parents.
Grandpa Bruce got his shoulder replaced and has been wearing a sling. Josie and Trig have been pretending they have hurt arms since we got home.

Not there yet

The other day Dean found a really good deal on a ski boat. Instantly my heart started beating fast and I wanted him to buy it so so bad; I love boating. It only took us a second to reason that we just aren’t there yet in our life. Our kids are too little and that is an activity will have to enjoy as a family when they are older.  Later we were talking about how fun it would be to go camping. Again we realized that with tiny kids and a baby its just not where we are right now.  That same day I saw a family fishing at the river by our house; and thought it looked like a fun activity. Dean and I talked about how the kids would get board if they weren’t catching fish left and right and how they would rather just throw rocks into the water.  Again an activity for when they are older.
I mentioned Free Fishing Day (a day anyone can fish all day in Idaho without a license, and kids under 14 can catch 2 fish for free at most fish hatcheries around the state) to Dean and he was excited, he said that was guaranteed success for the kids. He wasn’t very impressed with the supplies I bought at Wal-Mart to take fishing. Apparently he is more legit than a Wal-Mart fishing pole; however he doesn’t own a fishing pole so its weird that he considers himself legit at all. Anyhow we took the kids to the fish hatchery they were excited to go. They were excited the first couple casts. Trig caught a fish and that was exciting. Josie wanted to touch it but Trig just wanted to look. (I think its funny how he has a scuzz in ever picture I think he was a little grossed out, which is weird because for three days in a row he has brought ants inside to show me).  But they lost interest pretty fast so we left; I guess we aren’t there yet either.
We are excited to do older things but we really are enjoying our kids while they are little and we don’t want them to grow up too fast. They make us laugh all day long. It’s so fun to hear the things they come up with, we talk about the things they did every night as we go to bed.  They are so fun and its fun to watch them grow.

a new low

Dean asked me to stop at the store and buy him a 'jumpsuit'; that's when my life hit a new low. Oddly it's when Dean's hit an all time high. Dean has been talking about buying a semi for years. He has looked at a couple here and there. The whole idea just gave me enough anxiety I shut it down as long as I could. This last week his dream came true. The ranch is the PROUD new owner of this beauty. When I say proud I mean it, Dean thinks this is the coolest thing ever. The truck is not for hire, he will just use it to move cows from ranch to ranch.
-Last night Dean hauled a couple loads of cattle to the Bear Lake place and his clothes were disgusting.
-Last week one of his employees was hauling cows from Boise and Dean got a text from him with this picture. It said, "Boy what a $h#@y night".
-I'm positive some of that got in his mouth,  so gross

Whether it be me not wanting to wash this type of laundry or Dean having so much pride in his semi he won't let the inside get dirty... we will in fact be buying a jumpsuit; and probably a ski mask!

Blessing Day

Dean blessed Quincy today. She cried through the entire blessing. When Dean handed her back to me I gave her the binky and she quit. Dean leaned over and said, “Why didn’t you send that up with her”? I guess that would have been a good idea.  My awesome mom made lasagna and we ate salad and garlic bread.  We had Creamies for dessert and I lost count after Dean and Craig’s 7th, those boys love ice cream.  We had a good time visiting. We love our families and our so grateful for their friendship and support. We are also so happy to have Quincy in our family and love her sweet spirit. I’m especially in love with her sweetness; I don’t think I could have handled another hard baby.

Quincy started smiling last week and it has been so fun! She loved the bath Addy gave her before church.
