a text message

Yesterday I got a text message from my mom.
It had this picture with it.

Josie look what Grandpa bought! Her name is ROXY and she is very gentle. She came with her own pony cart and another pony exactly like her. His name is Blue.

I wish I had a picture of Josie's face, I read her the text and then showed her the picture. She was so excited. She wanted to go see it right then. This was a monumental day for many reasons. Ever since the 2012 4th of July parade (my parents weren't even home they were in Africa) she has been talking about Grandpa Bruce buying her a white pony so she could ride in the cart with him at the parade. She never gave up on this idea and sure enough grandpa pulled through. I didn't doubt that he would buy a pony when he got home I just didn't think that it would be white or fit her expectations so perfectly. He couldn't have stumbled upon a more perfect pony. This little girl is truly delighted. It was just an added bonus that her name really is Roxy. (Josie wanted to name Quincy Roxy but I wasn't having it).
The annual Westates company party is at our house on Friday and Dean thought it would be fun to have the pony here so he and Josie went down and picked it up. Josie was really excited and though he would never admit it so was Dean.
I was sad I couldn't be there. My mom took some pictures. Dean said she was so excited to meet Roxy and only wanted to ride on the cart with Grandpa not him. On the way home she called to tell me that she brushed Roxy and rode down the street in the wagon. She was excited that grandpa let her bring Roxy, her cart, and her bridle (harness) home to our house.
When they got home Dean took Josie and Trig for another ride down to show Papa and to see some of the neighbors. The kids couldn't have been happier.

One of the best memories I have is riding in a pony cart. {Actually it was more like a wagon but that is a minor detail) Dad would pick us up from school or we would take a ride to Grandma Great's. A pony cart is a must have; I am so happy that Josie gets to create new memories with Grandpa.
