ouR fiRsT WeEk

We have successfully made it one week. I have truly enjoyed being Josie's mom. I really do love her and though everything everyone told me about having a baby is true I have still enjoyed it. She is a pleasant baby and has started spending a lot more time awake. Her dad still loves to be with her and that has been fun for me to watch. She still doesn't fit in any of her clothes but we are working on some serious weight gain. She had a little Jaundice the first few days but with some tanning she defeated it without having to get Billie lights.
Tummy Time hasn't really been effective

Its obvious she just realized how big this flower really is.

A good day

My grandpa had such a nice service. He was loved by so many. His funeral and both viewings were full of friends and family, I'm so proud to be a Hall.

Remembering Grandpa

Birthday spankings, snipping beans, Ice skating, North Fork, getting all the change from his pocket, playing pig, gathering eggs, Nauvoo, “how‘s my girl“. I remember exactly how he looked at me when he thought I had said something a little to sassy, (I got that look a lot).I remember when he smiled and laughed out loud, or him always telling me to watch my mouth. I remember when he told me “Dean is a right good boy and you’d better not let him go“. I remember most of the ways that his finger got cut off, I have so many memories of Grandpa Hall and will miss him dearly. I love you Grandpa!

MAY 2009

I just finished my first year teaching 5th grade at Oakwood Elementary. Here is my cute class. I really did enjoy this past year and I learned a lot. (Its always easier to say positive things when your looking back). However; I'm excited to stay home with my little Josie!
It's that time again. The time when Dean ropes daily. Sometimes I will ask Dean how his day went or what he did and he always gives me a long list of things he got accomplished, but almost always by the end of the night he will accidentally admit that he went roping. His practicing must be paying off, tonight he won a jackpot roping. I didn't go watch him but here are a few pictures of him roping at home. I don't think you could call where I live a neighborhood, but if you could we had a little neighborhood softball game. It was really fun.

Here is the funny part. Right in the middle of an inning everyone on the field starts chasing a squirrel. It was so funny to see these grown boys chasing the little critter. Eventually they caught up to it. It's pretty obvious what happened to it after that.

Branding Round #1 '09

Isn't he so cute!
Dean spent Saturday branding calves. While my wonderful family and I worked on the house, we are getting closer slowly but surely.

April

On a search for warmer weather Dean and I went to Florida with some friends. We had a lot of fun, the weather was so nice.
Sunday was such a nice day, Dean took me on a 4-wheeler ride. We went up to the pond and turns out it is still winter.

Grandpa Fox

Grandpa Fox was such a special guy. Dean looks up to his grandpa for so many things. I love to hear him talk about the things his grandpa taught him. He expected a lot of him and didn't put up with much messing around. Dean talks about how Bernard would tell him what to do and then say "savvy that" Dean would say yes even if her didn't understand, but would eventually figure out what he should be doing. He tells lots of stories of hiding out from grandpa and eating his Oreos. Grandpa Fox was the only person Dean wouldn't say no to. I can't believe the stuff he could get Dean to do. He could get Dean to eat stewed tomatoes or come up to his house when we were already on our way out of town.
I enjoyed getting to know Grandpa Fox. He was so good to Dean and I. We visited him often and we would often hear the same stories but they were interesting. I hope we don't ever forget how he would fold his legs up under himself in his chair and how he laughed and scratched his head with one finger. I loved when he would call me to cut his hair. I always tried to trim his eyebrows or the hair in his ears. He never told me to stop but he swatted my hand a few times and just kept on with his story. The first time I met him I asked him how many cows he had and he shot back, "I don't ask you how much money your have". He once took me to EZ way and got out in the middle of the road. He didn't put the car in park or pull off to the side he just got out and told me to stay put while the went to get milk. I put the car in park when he left but didn't dare move it to the side. Another time I remember him asking me for a ride to the Y. He just wanted me to leave him even though his ride wasn't there yet. I said no I would wait till someone came to pick him up and he said, "you will do as your told" and shut the door, so I left. He was a neat guy though he seemed gruff I always liked him. I love the ring her gave me and will always hold it dear. We love you Grandpa Fox!
