When Josie turned 4 she started asking if she could sleep in
the extra bedroom. I let her a few times thinking she would get scared and it would be over. The walls were covered in mold and it was cold and creepy. She loved it and wanted to move down there forever. I told her maybe when she turned 5 she could move down there
thinking it would blow over. She talked about it constantly and because Quincy
lived in a closet I thought it was probably a good idea to move her down there
and make a little extra room. The more I thought about it I decided that if I
was going to finish one room I may as well finish two. I thought about it for a
while and one random day I walked outside, found a pry bar and went to town. I
called Dean and asked him to come haul all the wreckage out. He was bothered
but he did it. I cleaned up the mold, filled the cracks, realized I was in way
over my head and called my dad. He was so good to help me. He and my mom drove
up to help me a lot. My mom tended and my dad taught me all the steps to
rebuilding. He was a lifesaver, he brought tools and supplies I didn’t even
know I needed. He helped me frame both rooms and sheet rock. He wired a light
and switch and taught me how to texture. I put trim in both rooms and did all the finish work. The rooms came together really fast. I
found it exciting to decorate and fill the rooms with stuff I already had. I
don’t think I bought anything for Trigs room but his bed spread and light. I
used old wood to trim and paint I already had, old decorations, carpet from a
friend, my grandma gave me the bed, and it was exciting to see how cute it turned out for almost nothing! For
Josie’s room I had to buy the trim, pink paint, and bed spread but everything
else was refurbished. They love having their own rooms and I loved putting them
together!

I did all the texturing by myself, I made Dean come down to see and he said, "How do you want me to react"? I think that meant he was impressed...
This adorable dresser was in the basement when we moved in and I have been waiting to redo it when I found the perfect use.
Casey gave us this Barbie house and it was so fun to remodel with my girl
Josie and I had some different ideas on how to paint, I just had to bite my lip and let her make the choices. She loved being in charge and helping paint.
My dad gave me this old wrought iron bed, redoing this was by far the hardest longest project of them all but I love having it.

Both rooms turned out SO GREAT. You are really creative but your "I can do it" attitude and drive is what impresses me. You are amazing. Mom
Lindsey they look so cute! You did awesome...I would have been in heaven at Josie's age if my room looked like that!
You are amazing!! I LOVE both of their rooms!! Can you come redo my kitchen??? I have torn the wallpaper off and can't find the motivation to finish it!
