Hunting Season 2014

Dean told me that he was going to find the biggest elk and then sleep with it til opening day, and that is exactly what he did. He has been talking about getting a bedroll for years and this year his dreams finally came true. He was like a kid on Christmas, he got it out played with it filled it with blankets, unpacked it, packed it back up. It was the funniest thing. He sure does love it though, he slept on the hill 5 different night this hunting season and has used it a couple time since so I guess he is getting his monies worth.
Hunting season was exciting for Trig he got to go with Dean to see this crazy looking animal Lawrence killed during the bow hunt.
Next he was excited for TJ and Jake when they brought home some trophies.
Then the one we spent weeks talking about. Dean killed a big elk up behind our house and I was so excited for him!
I told him to call me because I wanted to see it in its element, I was so glad I went up there, I would have never understood it otherwise. And though it was awful I secretly didn't mind watch them quarter it out.
The kids were troopers and hiked all the way in and all the way out. Josie even packed her baby doll and naturally Trig brought a knife to help cut its head off.
The next week while working with dad they got to shoot a coyote. Josie was really sad Dean wouldn't let her keep it.
Grandpa Fox got a couple of pheasants and that peaked Trigs interest in bird hunting. He had been talking about it for a couple weeks before Mike brought the kids up and did a little duct work for us, okay a lot of duct work. He took the kids hunting and they got a lot of birds and a couple rodents too.
Trig was begging to go hunting with them, we tried to tell him it would be too much walking but he wasn't having that, Dean called 20 min later and said Trig gave up. I drove down to get him on the wheeler and saw him in shooting position, he said, "I'm not comin with you mom I'm waitin for dad to scare the birds over here so I can shoot'em". I had to bribe him with treats to come home and promise him that Mike would show us all the birds they killed. When the hunters got back we did infact go check out their haul, Josie once again cried real tears that I wouldn't let her keep a dead pheasant, when I told her it would stink she said, "Max has one in his room mom and it doesn't stink".
