we are just us

Dean and I celebrated our 6th anniversary. He was so sweet to plan a little get away. It was a complete surprise; he made all the plans, hotel reservations, talked TJ into filing in for him on the ranch, and asked my mom to keep the kids.
Friday we headed down to SLC we checked into the hotel (which was so fun and fancy) and Dean took a nap while I took a bath. Next I took a nap while Dean read the Western Horseman. It was perfect!

We went to dinner and then to City Creek even though Dean would have rather gone to the NCAA tournament. When we were waiting for our table at dinner Dean turned to me and said, "it's interesting how small peoples bubbles are here, I bet I have had three people touch me, and look at this guy he is practically sitting on my lap". Almost every man we walked passed Dean declared gay. He was so funny, we need to get out more so we are more tolerable of the public.
We went back to the hotel, we were going to go to a movie but I couldn't talk myself into sitting in an uncomfortable seat for that long. Instead I bathed again (being totally pregnant I was determined to make full use of that enormous tub) and then we watch Duck Dynasty.
Saturday morning we ate breakfast at the hotel. John Stockton sat by us and Dean was giddy about it. Dean was nice and took me to the outlets in Park City. It was such a fun break. It was nice just to relax. I loved that Dean turned his phone off!
We didn't do anything outrageous but it was perfect. I love him so much and I'm so glad we are just us.

Workin' with Dad

Trig LOVES to go with Dean. Every morning he says 'cows, daddy' and brings me either his coat, boots, or a clothing item. Then I call Dean and he almost always come back and picks Trig up. Later he brings him back for lunch and a nap and then the whole thing starts over again.
This morning Trig woke up before Dean left. He knew Dean was getting ready to leave so he tried to find some clothes in his dresser but gave up and ran to the dirty clothes. He gathered all the items he would need for the day. He was so sad I wouldn't put his dirty clothes on but Dean was nice enough to wait for him to get ready.

our day to day

Josie pretends she is two if she only wants to eat two more bites of dinner. She pretends she is five if she wants five treats. It's not uncommon that she changes her age for work in her favor. The other day she came upstairs and said, "mom I'm pretending to be 18, so I can have a baby, I'm a mom and I have a purse". I said, "well when your 18 you can have a purse but I sure hope you don't have a baby and besides your hair is sure a mess to be 18". So she immediately needed to fix her hair, and then of course her make-up.
This is what she came up with. See how pretty, she even did her babies make-up. When she first came up the stairs my heart sank a little that she wanted to be 18, she is already growing up too fast I don't even want to think about her being 18. By the time she was finished with her hair and make-up I was over the heart brake and quite convinced that if she is doing hair and make-up like this when she is 18 she will be spending most of her weekends at home anyhow.
I just had to take a picture. These are two of my favorite people, I don't ever want to forget this stage. They fight like crazy but they also play together so good. I just love them; pajamas, Cowboy boots, guns, and all.
Drama. drama. I told Trig we were going to get in the tub while I took his clothes off. Then I quickly mentioned I was going to cut his hair before he got in the tub. Total Melt Down. He climbed up on the changing table and yelled 'NO' then bawled and yelled 'NO' and bawled more, he wouldn't look at me. He hates to get his hair cut, he always has. I finally scooped him up, cut his hair, bathed him, and we all moved on.
My was telling my mom the other day I'm scared to have another baby because I'm going to miss Trig being my baby. I just love him so much. She said, "maybe its a good thing so you don't ruin him". That was such a good comment, since then I realize that is exactly what I'm doing. It's is so hard not to I just love him. I love when he is naughty and I love when he is just pure boy. The other day I turned the corner and found him putting money down the heat vent. I should have spanked him but instead I took a picture. Two things tickled me about this. He was stealing the money from Josie's 'very special' princess wallet, so he defiantly knew he was taking a big risk. And when he heard my camera snap he just looked up at me, raised his eyebrows, and slowly grinned.

Grandma Sharon's House

Grandma Sharon is a good grandma; you know the kind that plays puppy.
The only problem is after they play puppy at grandma's they want to play at home.
Truth is Josie really wants to be a puppy but she just can't bring herself to eat with the face. Trig clearly has no problem with it.
My mom was so nice to keep the kids for a couple days when Dean was in the hospital. It was nice to have them somewhere consistent so I could go back and forth. Now that I think about it I probably didn't thank her enough but I truly appreciated it.
Eating yogurt at granny's!
Play dough
Josie loves to do Trig's hair, and surprisingly he lets her; a lot ...
Getting a little water
styling
finishing touches

Just two of my adorable nieces

Maddie and Taylor came to stay with us for a couple days. They were so pleasant and it was fun to have company. Josie was over the moon about the whole deal, she loves 'Tader'.  We stayed busy. Taylor sewed three bags, a doll pillow and blanket. She sewed herself this swimming bag for summer entirely by herself I didn't help with one stitch; she is getting pretty good. Josie was so happy to have a matching bag just like Taylor!

Lawrence was so nice to catch Dolly so we could take Taylor's picture for her report on Draft horses.
Maddie is so sweet and helpful whenever she stays. She helps keep the house in order and she stayed home so Trig could take a nap while the girls and I ran to town. We worked on more of her math homework and visited I just love her company. She and Taylor were good sports to help feed the baby calves a couple times while they were here.
I just noticed Trig isn't in any of the pictures, then I realized it is because he was with Dean almost the entire time. He loves to go with Dean and Dean is so good to take him. That worked out perfect because its hard to have a baby boy around while you are sewing and painting nails!

busy week. mostly a LONG journal

Saturday the kids and I left for Utah. I was finally able to take the grey car down so we could try to sell it and I picked up our white car from the shop. (I got rear ended on the way to church just to find out that church was actually canceled do to bad weather. Little late if people are already headed there; so frustrating). Anyway I got to do Maddie's hair for prom, it was so fun to help her get ready and see her date pick her up; she looked beautiful.  Johnny and Emilee entertained my children by fulfilling their every demand. No Joke they had all the toys out, I'm pretty sure they ate an entire box of fruit snacks while Emilee made them popcorn, I looked down stairs and Johnny had made them a fort (he got some clamps out of this garage and clipped them to Emilee's new leather furniture). Next thing I know Johnny, Trig and Josie are all in the coat closet singing songs; then out to the mailbox so Josie could be a 'special delivery girl'. They were so cute to my babies. Josie cried when it was time to leave and she is still talking about going back. O Anglea was there too. She laid on the floor and told me what I was doing wrong while Hannah (I was tending her because her family went ice skating) sat on Angelas chest and ate popcorn. After Maddie left Johnny bought us dinner at Kirt's; it truly was such a fun night!
When I put the kids to bed Trig would not have any part of his crib. He just wanted to lay by Josie. Josie was excited about it but I think it kind of hurt my heart he is growing up so fast.

Sunday we went to listen to my parents speak in church. Because we were so sick we missed their Homecoming report and I wanted to her them talk. My kids were out of control all through sacrament meeting and I was so embarrassed. After the meeting I took grandma great home and she looked over at me and said, "O Lindsey what are you going to do when you have three kids". FAIL... Clearly there is no way she thinks I'm going to survive and she is probably right.  Sunday night we had dessert at my moms with some of the family and then we were off to Addy's. I took Maddie with me for good company and so I didn't have to drive in the dark alone.
Monday morning Maddie and I spent every bit of three hours doing her make-up work in math, which was only ironic because at the time we were trying to get her all caught up she was currently missing her math class. O well it was fun to hang out with her and later we got Chinese so that was a bonus! Emilee brought grandma down and JD and Catherine stopped by to see Addy's new house, which is beautiful by the way. We had a good visit and then I got busy painting Addy's bathroom.
Tuesday We started painting the boys room and then I took Josie to Primary Children's for an appointment with a gastroenterologist. They tested her for deficiencies that I have been worried about so I'm anxious to get the results. She was so adorable at the appointment until they drew her blood. She has had that done more than any little girl should have to. (Just today we were driving in the truck and she said, "you know what daddy? I don't like that doctor that taked my blood out. He poked me and I was just Freaking Out, I don't like him, you know that?"). She is so adorable and its true she really was freaking out.
Josie had so much fun at Addy's she loves to play with Rio. They each took our cell phones and then walked around the house calling each other. Every time I got my phone back there was at least 30 calls to Addy's phone. Their conversations were short but there was a lot of them.
Wednesday we finished the boys room and I packed up again and headed back to my moms. She watched the kids while I went to the baby doctor.    I really do appreciate doctors but it is so frustrating to go there, wait forever, pay them, and then they just say 'yep your still pregnant' and send you on your way.
Thursday we headed home. We were all so ready to go home and we really missed Dean. We were really lucky to be gone when we were, Dean was so busy calving it didn't sound like he would have had much time for us anyway. He had a lot of nights were he was out all night pulling calves or trying to save them. It sounds like whenever he was home day or night he was sleeping and then back out to take care of something else. Good news is he is halfway done calving. Honestly though the house was in rough shape; good thing he isn't a bachelor or his pad would be condemned for sure.

Joke is on you little girl

Josie is always wanting to be a baby. A baby girl, baby kitty, baby puppy... She would play baby all day. There are some pros and cons to playing baby. On one hand its incredibly annoying but on the other I can get her to eat better or do her jobs by calling her baby and talking in a baby voice.
Yesterday she insisted that she was a real baby and needed a real diaper. I explained that real babies take real naps. Then she told me that real babies sleep in real cribs. So I had  to set up a crib and put a diaper on her but she did take a 2.5 hour nap.

On a completely different note my cute mom came and spent three days with us. It was fun to have her and we got a lot accomplished. Spring cleaning before the baby comes, my house just feels better!         Today we are playing baby yet again, but instead of me being the mom I'm grandma. We are going to miss our company.

Red Wagon

The other day I tried talking Dean into buying this wagon at IFA. It was on sale for crazy cheap and I knew it would be a good one for the kind of terrain we have at our house. I'm not sure if he wasn't listening or if he was just ignoring me but either way he didn't buy it. Two days later Josie asked for a red wagon to take her puppy for a ride and what do you know, we are the proud new owners of this little beauty. Dean put it together and the kids couldn't wait to go for a ride. Dean drove them  to brush their teeth and then they caught a ride to bed.
When we were going to bed Dean said, "it's weird the way life changes, like when you get excited about buying a wagon". So True.

This morning they couldn't wait to give Tuff a ride. He is a crazy little dog so he was all over the place but it was mostly successful.
It was fun to see how excited they got about riding in the wagon in the house. Then it was fun to see how excited they were to ride in the wagon with the dog. But truth be told they might just be at a fun age where everything is exciting. When we got back inside I pulled out the stove so I could clean behind it and they were so excited, it was like Christmas. Josie couldn't have been more thrilled with the m&m she found and Trig was just giddy about the whole thing.

Lately there has been a lot of fort building and lots of Uno at our house.
Its fine if you go out to feed your puppy in sweat pants and pink boots.

First Person

Josie came up the stairs yesterday saying, 'look mom i drawed you'. I was so excited. We work on counting, letters, writing, songs, coloring; but never actually drawing so I was excited to see this little number. I made such a big deal about it she has been drawing all day. Her people are improving rapidly but this one will always have my heart because it was all on her own!
little man and his barbie wanted a picture too.

Baby Girl

I haven't forgotten about baby girl in fact even if I wanted to I couldn't, it's impossible; she is an acrobat. Pregnancy #3 has been super hard. I was more sick than the other two for longer. All around it's been harder, I have felt 4o weeks pregnant since week 20. Maybe it has something to do with raising two other babies while I'm trying to make this one. I don't want to complain because I truly am grateful for my babies but wow I would love to sleep on my stomach, eat something, anything, without throwing up acid for the rest of the day, or just be comfortable for any length of time at all. Ironically I have finally started liking the idea of a new baby. I'm still scared especially with the way Trig is getting more wild everyday. But I finally feel like its going to be okay not easy but okay. Now if I can just fall in love with a name.

2.14.2013

does this even count?

He did write a cute note in the card but I say, "This is borderline offensive".
And he said; "All the other ones were really lovey dovey".
heaven forbid...

a day at the sale

Dean had to take a load of calves to the sale and he let us go with him. The kids were really good and seemed to enjoy it. As we walked out a lady asked Josie if she wanted to take this puppy home. Josie doesn't really talk to anybody she doesn't want to, but she eagerly shook her head yes and grabbed the leash from the lady. Trig couldn't stop giggling and yelling 'puppy'. Dean piped up and said to the lady, "Well I don't know if I should thank you or hit you".
It took us at least 20 minutes longer to walk back to the truck towing that little puppy but the kids are in love. I named him Tuff, cause that is exactly what he is going to have to be to stick around here very long; it's getting embarrassing but we just aren't real easy on dogs.

Well this happened...

Today my parents came up. My dad took Dean to look for a new trailer and my mom made cookies with Josie. They didn't stay to long but I had fun visiting. Later I found this. Real mature dad, I know it was you cause your the only person tall enough to even reach that. In my defense look how clean the top of the entertainment center is. It's a general rule to only clean as tall as I can reach, so instead of getting a stool and cleaning it off I just took a picture.
and I snapped one of this cute boy riding his couch horse, roping imaginary cows, while enjoying not one but two of grandmas cookies.
