Swimming Pool

Dean bought a swimming pool at the drug store in town. Which is ironic because I went to 5 stores in 3 different cities trying to find ping pong balls and a swimming pool; which ALL five stores where sold completely out of. I know swimming season is coming to an end but for all 5 stores to be sold out of ping pong balls and swimming pools is ridiculous. Oddly the drug store in Grace had not only one pool but many and tons of ping pong balls. I digress. The kids were delighted with their new pool. Not so much with being in the pool but having a large amount of water to do with what they pleased.
Trig was the only one tough enough to completely submerge in the freezing cold water. over two days Josie emptied the entire pool one bucket at a time washing anything and everything in the yard.

lately

We have stayed busy all summer, this week was no different maybe just a little less exciting. The washer broke and finally after dirtying almost every article of clothing we have we finally got it back!!! Josie loves her new hat from aunt Laurel I feel like every time we walk out the door I'm fighting her to keep it at home.  The principle of the elementary that I used to teach at called and asked me to come back, though I told her no I was honored that she asked.
Dean was in charge of the ward party. That is a dirty little trick the Bishop played on me knowing Dean had no intention of doing it. We ate, played min-to-win-it, got rained on, and watched an outdoor movie inside. I don't think it went perfectly but I learned a lot.
Sunday we went on a four-wheeler ride. Maddie is staying with us.
Dean is baling straw all day every day.
Josie started taking pictures by herself. She took of 60 at the rodeo. I think this is her best shot.
We went to the Cache County Fair. I was mesmerized by the entertainment.

This Native American Posse preformed, (they were actually a bunch of white kids with wigs trying to respect and carry on their Indian culture or whatever) they were amazing. They all road bare back and road free hand using leg pressure and a few hand ques.

Then this guys comes charging in who was also crazy cool.
He rode his horses bare back too, Dean and I were both surprised he was in cowboy boots and didn't slip. His horses were together and really well trained.
I took this picture off his website which may or may not be illegal but I don't think he'll sue if I'm bragging on him. He didn't do eight in Logan just the six.
Dad you can should probably take this up when you get home... to bad Bud and Cap aren't around.

A False Assumption

Dean came home for lunch and to bolt a tool box on his flat bed. He said Trig could play outside while he worked.
He is so adorable I watched him out the window make laps around all his dad's business.
The next day I heard Josie send Trig outside (she does that a lot). I heard her say, "Here boy take your wallet, wear you hat, go to work with Dean". Then she walked in the kitchen and said, "Mom boy go outside him has no socks on". (I didn't know kids tattled so young and I'm pretty sure she set him up anyway). I'm assuming that value pillow is the wallet.
He is such a ham. I can't get enough of him walking around in little boots and that hat.
A couple days later I told Josie we were going to take lunch to dad. She comes back with her hat and boots on and said she was ready to go to work with dad.
The very next day we had to pick up Dean to drive him back a different field. She started crying because she couldn't find her boots to go pick up dad. She obviously assumes she can only go with dad if she wears her hat and boots.

What's another word for Karma?

I need another word for karma. I use that word too often and though it gets annoying and repetitive it's not going away so I just need something else to call it.
I went to Bear Lake with some of my friends and it just so happened that Dean was at the Bear Lake Ranch that day so I thought I would drive the extra 20 minutes and go see him. He was getting two semi loads of roping steers and I thought it would be fun to see. However it was not fun and it did not go well.
First; I thought he was there alone so I was slightly embarrassed when Bryan was there with him. (He didn't say anything but I'm sure its embarrassing when your working and your wife shows up with wet hair, in her swimming suit). They had moved some cows and were just sitting, waiting to unload some semis that were late showing up. He asked me to go get them some drinks in town. (Montpelier is a 20 minute drive so it would have been 40 extra minutes for the kids to be in the car and then still over an hour home). I told him I didn't want to make the kids ride in the car that long. Apparently they were incredibly thirsty because Bryan then asked if he could just take me car. So Dean, the kids, and I just stayed there. When the semis showed up I put the kids in the truck to play, Dean told me to grab the keys so the kids didn't loose them. Like a perfectly obedient wife I put the keys in my pocket. Semis unloaded, Bryan came back, I put the kids in the car and started for home, Dean and Bryan stayed to finish whatever else they were doing.
Halfway home I realized I had Dean's truck keys in my pocket and had to turn around and drive them back to him. When I got there Bryan was on his horse at the top of a mountain trying to get cell phone reception; Dean was on the side of the road planning to thumb a ride to town. They only waited about 10 minutes before I showed up but they were happy to see me. Next time I'll just go get the drinks.

Ballard's

Ballard's came to stay with us for a couple of days. They have come up for Jake's birthday three times now. They make great, easy company. Mike took the kids to the pond to train the dogs. When they got back they shot clay pigeons. The kids start hunters safety soon, they will be naturals.

Jake and Gracie played a couple games of pool. I should have recorded them. They were saying the funniest stuff, using pool terms and acting like pros.
Josie was delighted with the idea of having a sleepover with Gretchen. She wanted to sleep downstairs so bad until all the kids started falling asleep. She came upstairs crying because Gretchen wouldn't tickle her back. Dean talked her into sleeping in her own bed.
On Jake's birthday I taught him how to drive the four-wheeler; he loved it!
We went to Bear Lake one day and had a good time as usual.
This is what real moms do at Bear Lake, blow up & deflate floaties. Jake wanted to take these shells home and because that is sick, I talked him into a picture instead.
Friday we played at the fair and Saturday we went to the demolition derby. The kids loved it but Ang decided next time she was going to wear a tube top so we fit in a little better. Sunday we went four-wheeling and stopped at this trough to get a drink (no sign of diphtheria yet). Dean gave Jake a little bath, he didn't love it.
Gretchen and Gracie tried to build a dam but lost interest before they stopped any water.
